Dear 94 friends,
Long overdue is some form of record of the events of the history of our Regiment.
This "Draft" of a potted history, I have cobbled together in an effort to put down some recorded facts and to encourage discussion and a plea for some of the gaps to be filled in.
For example in the early part there is a lack of information relating to Battery titles, for example in 1939 I believe there were Batteries called "H Survey and B Survey", later probably 1943 they were called "A1 and B1 Survey Batteries", around the 1944 era they were changed to "41 and 42 Survey Batteries", the set up within these Batteries was probably based around Survey, Sound Ranging, and Flash Spotting.
During 1945 time a 20 Battery appears probably a Radar Battery ?, also around this time it would appear that there was a 63 Battery and a 337 and 341 Battery.
When the Regiment re-designated to 94 Observation Regiment in 1947 we have the Batteries as 210 and 211, later to become 112 and 113 probably about 1955 time.
In 1960 probably 112 and 113 disappear and a 14 Battery and 73 Battery appear on the scene, also 152 and 157 appear from somewhere, 14 Battery then leaves the Regiment about 1961/62 time probably with the new 21 Regiment in 1964 57 Battery appears so does 156 Battery after 1964 I think I've got it right. (Confused !!!! join the club).
The list of Commanding Officers is correct from 1945 as is the RSMs list (I think).
So what is the next step ?
I would like to have many replies giving the missing information or amending the misinformation. It would be nice to record things like the list of
Hope you all enjoy this first draft, I've no doubt I'm going to get some stick
