Have just come across your very good web site on 94 Regt. RA. I was attached to 94 Regt. as a REME Radar Technician from 1961 to 1963.

Checking through your history of the regiment I would like to take this opportunity to correct an error from this period. When I arrived at the regiment, 22nd March 1961, the mortar locating Radar Set was the “3Mk 7F”, “Green Archer” did not arrive until 1962. The “3Mk 7F” was a modified Anti-aircraft Radar. How long this had been in service before I arrived I do not know.

The reason I know this was still in service in 1962 is because I still bear a scar on my leg, that I got during the 62 Summer Camp on Lunenburg Heath from jumping into the Radar cabin, and missing. The reason I had to jump in is because the Radar Chassis had an occasional habit of becoming live and the only way to correct it was get inside and tighten up the Earth Connection.

Attached is a photo taken 1962 or 63 of 94 Regt REME workshop military personnel, including RAOC. Taken outside the workshop. I am not on the photo as at the time I was on leave. The photo was taken by Foto – Harder, Hannoversche Str. 16 in Celle.94 regiment workshops 1962/63. click too see full image
